My processor and video card are about 2 years old but I can't see a quadcore i-7 with 32 gigs of RAM and a solid mid range video card having trouble running Power Director, or even 1080p 60fps video. But here are my general PC's specs anyway:ĥ) Kingston 225 Gig SSD (which PD and Windows run on) and a 3 TB drive for storage of video Diagnostic Files are attached to this post, including the 64-bit specs. Power Director version #.0 (should be the newest version) Here are the specs and info outlined in the forum guide: I may also add that I have changed nothing about my system from 12 to 14. I would like to also note that I upgraded from Power Director 12, which I also experienced crashes with but not at the level I am having with 14. My video card drivers are also fully up to date as well as Direct X which is version 11. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling PD 14 to no avail or discernable difference. I will note though that most of the footage I am editing is 1080p 60fps, so it is taxing on the system. Usually when this happens I give up and reboot which sometimes helps. ![]() There doesn't appear to be a rhyme or reason to it and I will go long stretches with no crashes only to have the program go on a crashing spree where I can't edit at all without being booted. ![]() The specfic moments I can remember the program crashing are while editing a transition, splitting a video or audio file, adding effects, while editing key frames, during rendering, while dragging a video or audio file to the timeline, adding a file to the media library, etc. This happens mostly while I am in the editing window, but not always. It is a complete and sudden dump to the desktop with this message: I have been working on a video for the past couple weeks but have been experiencing sporadic and very frequent crashes. SEAGATE GoFlex Home 2 TB external Hard Drive, WD External HDD 2.5TB (BACKUPS), Cable Broadband. So I recently updated to Power Director 14. It should be noted that most of Nvidia graphic card driver updates have been geared for Gaming and not so much for productivity, and this is shown that they show the improvements that the driver have for games and no mention about video editing and productivity areas.Īs a result of this investigation I will roll back my graphics card driver to 301.42, hopefully it wont affect my gaming hobby.Īsus 78L-MLX PLUS Motherboard, AMD FX4170 Quad Core 4.2 GHz Processor, 8MB DDR 1333 RAM, 1 TB HDD, AOC 23 Inch 3D Monitor, LG 23 Inch LED Monitor. The issue could also be due to PDR11 Multi-GPGPU feature, and I am not sure whether anyone has considered that possibility. I then proceeded to update the driver to 304.79 Driver and I got the rendering problems as I did with driver 306.23. ![]() I have Geforce GTX 560 graphics card, originally running 306.23 driver, I then rolled it back to 301.42 driver, and there was no problems. ![]() Ok, after investigations I found that the issue could be graphics card related as the forum post of jmone has suggested. I have tried to lodge a support ticket but I keep getting an unable to process your ticket please try again latter. Is this normal for PowerDirector 11 to render so slowly or is there a problem with my copy of the program. My wife who purchased the upgrade for me, got very frustrated that she paid for it and it slower than PDR10. I was told that editing process would be more quicker under PowerDirector 11, but I have found it to be slow. It would render every 5 seconds (3 second rendering process with a 2s pause), this has slowed down my editing process and creativity. It is a 10 minutes video, with maybe 2 effects and 1 mp3 song. When I went to preview it in edit mode, the rendering became slow. I recently upgraded from PowerDirector10ultra to PowerDirector11 ultimate and opened a project that I was working on in PDR10.
